Schloss Romrod is a medieval castle-hotel in the heart of Hessen, first recorded in the twelfth century. Eight hundred years of history live in its walls — tournaments, feudal lords, and now, us. Its ancient stone halls, candlelit Rittersaal and extraordinary team made it our one and only choice from the moment we saw it.
Das Schloss Romrod ist ein mittelalterliches Schlosshotel im Herzen Hessens, erstmals im zwölften Jahrhundert urkundlich erwähnt. Achthundert Jahre Geschichte leben in seinen Mauern — Turniere, Feudalherren und jetzt wir. Seine alten Steinhallen, der kerzenbeleuchtete Rittersaal und das außergewöhnliche Team machten es vom ersten Moment an zu unserer einzigen Wahl.

Both the ceremony and banquet take place inside the Schloss. The magnificent Rittersaal — grand chandeliers, stone arches — is our feast hall.

Frost on ancient stone, warm candlelight within, the Hessen countryside dressed in winter. If the medieval knights at the gate let you in, the night is yours.

We have reserved all rooms at Schloss Romrod exclusively for our guests — so you can dance until dawn and simply head upstairs. Extra rooms are available at the nearby Hôtel Villa Raab. We would love as many guests on-site as possible, but you are also very welcome to arrange your own accommodation nearby. Please let us know your plans in the RSVP below.

One of our favourite German wedding traditions is the Hochzeitsprogramm — guests prepare a surprise performance to entertain the couple during the wedding dinner. It can be anything: a song, a dance, a comedy sketch, a quiz about us, a poem, a short film — no rules, no wrong answers. - No receiving line. Find us, give us a hug and say hello!
- Keine Begrüßungsschlange. Findet uns einfach und sagt Hallo!
- Cash gifts are completely normal in Germany — standard and very appreciated.
- Geldgeschenke sind normal — in Deutschland absolut üblich und sehr willkommen.
- Speeches are not limited to the traditional line-up. Anyone can step up and say a few words. It is best to be prepared though... (see the Hochzeitsprogramm above!)
- Reden sind nicht auf das traditionelle Programm beschränkt. Jeder kann aufstehen und ein paar Worte sagen. Am besten vorbereitet sein... (siehe Hochzeitsprogramm oben!)
- Eye contact when toasting is essential. In Germany, failing to make eye contact while clinking glasses is considered very bad luck. Look everyone in the eye. You have been warned.
- Augenkontakt beim Anstoßen ist Pflicht. Britische Gäste wissen das möglicherweise nicht — bitte freundlich erinnern.

- The speeches will be funny. British wedding speeches traditionally involve gently roasting the groom and sharing embarrassing stories. Completely intentional — please laugh generously!

- British guests may not be perfectly punctual. We apologise in advance. 15:00 still means 15:00.
- Britische Gäste sind möglicherweise nicht ganz pünktlich. Wir entschuldigen uns im Voraus.
- No Polterabend. Friday dinner is our relaxed equivalent — entirely crockery-free.
- Kein Polterabend. Das Freitagsessen ist unser entspanntes Äquivalent — ohne Porzellan.
- Queue culture. British guests queue patiently for almost anything. It is simply how we are wired.
- Schlange stehen. Britische Gäste stellen sich geduldig für fast alles an.
